I use visine. If your eyes get infected from all the itching use polysporin eye drops.

Ouch...sounds as if you could have a chlorine allergy. You want to proceed with a gentle treatment that is not going to irritate the eyes more. If you haven't already, shower to make sure all the chlorine is off of you. Sometimes just having it on the skin can irritate the eyes. Then flush out your eyes with something like Visine Tears or Saline Solution for contacts. Before you go to bed you could take something like Benadryl which will help relieve the irritation and redness. Putting a cool damp cloth over your eyes will give you relief too.

First of all, CLOSE your eyes whilst underwater.
I believe it is called Combined Chlorine in the water, that is if the pool is sanitized with chlorine. When one adds chlorine to the pool, they are adding Free Chlorine, that contains ions for the sanitation process. This is not what burns. It isn't until the chlorine combines with the dirt and nasty stuff in the water that creates Combined Chlorine, which is, indeed, what burns.
Thus, to avoid this torturing sensation avoid the opening of the eyes. One could add some Conditioner (Cyanuric Acid) to help keep up the Free Chlorine level in the water, and thus less of the chlorine odor and no burning.
