It takes a lot of practice before you could get it right everytime. How you hold the cast net before you throw it is the key. And you should make sure you are good at throwing a 5' cast net before you move up to a monster like a 8'

Holy cow mate, you did say 8 ft radius?? Yeah well, good luck with picking that up, let alone throwing it properly.
Mate, if I was you I'd start with a standard Nylon 6 ft net. Nylon is a heck of a lot easier to throw than cotton. Best way is get someone to show you because it's damn near impossible to explain like this. Once you can throw that net mate, you can throw anything.

make sure you have the rope around your wrist ( i have it right side)
grab the top of the net just under th horl (the metal ring) al lin the left hand
then grab it again in the left hand at your waist
with your right hand
split the bottom half in two
grab one end with your right hand and put it over top of your left wrist and have it so he left wrist is up
then there should the a place where the lead line goes from level to lower
put that spot in your teeth
with your right pinky, grab the right side of the part coming from your teeth as far down as you can
no
the part that you put over your left wrist
grab it with you right hand
with a swinging motion
throw it and let everything go
ps
it takes practice

It takes a smooth, fluid motion to get a cast net to open properly. When I got mine, it had an instructional video with it which actually did help me. Maybe you could buy one somewhere. You'll only get better if you practice though.

throwing a casting net properly is an art .... no one can tell you how to do it ..... they have to show you .... and then it will take practice..... most casters will show you if you flatter them a bit
