I was always taught that there is not any pain or sorrow in heaven.
With that being said, What happens when you go to heaven and a loved one
that has passed away before you isn't there. Wouldn't you feel some type
of pain?

Good question many people run into that question you are not the only one, Pain in Heaven?

A special problem that has been raised by some is the question of pain in heaven. Some have wondered how it would be possible for individuals to enjoy the beatitude of heaven if they knew that some people—perhaps some they were close to in earthly life—are in hell. Others have wondered about apparitions of Mary and other saints in which they are crying over what is happening or may happen on earth. These problems have made people question whether there is pain in heaven.

The answer is that there is not. Scripture assures us that for those in heaven God in the end "will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning nor crying nor pain any more, for the former things have passed away" (Rev. 21:4).

How we will be able to know of the existence of the damned without being pained by it is a mystery, but we can only conclude that the glorified human mind will be configured in such a way that it is able—without pain—to recognize both God’s justice and the free choices of men that led to damnation. God’s own beatitude is not damaged by the existence of hell, and he will not allow our ultimate beatitude to be damaged, either.

As far as weeping apparitions, the tears in these cases perhaps are best understood as an expression of the gravity of man’s sins and of what one in a non-glorified state would be justified in feeling rather than what literally is being felt in heaven.

good question, ive heard christians say that god removes memories of life that may cause pain in heaven.
if that is the case, heaven would be similar to being in a catatonic and delirious state. like a lobotomy patient, you would lose your identity as you now know it.

the other argument is that you will be so overcome by the power of god, that you will lose all cares for the matters that we suffer in the waking life. if this is the case then heaven would be considered a place of selfish fulfillment over the needs and emotions of others. callus huh?

oh, i almost forgot the last possibility, where the only aspect of heaven would be to warship and praise god. thus, eliminating the validity of your own hardships. you in a sense become enslaved to his will. a further perpetuation of the religious standard (or tyranny as i like to call it) that is set upon you in the real world. also, not very heavenly...

for me heaven is another paradox that further dissolves the validity of the personal god hypothesis.

I Believe that when you die your just resting for a long period of time.No body really knows what happens after you die you can only imagine or follow the bible guides which states that theirs no sorrow or pain. What i do think is that when everybody dies we do all go to the same place that's why you'll always end up with your passed loved ones.

It depends what you believe. Heaven is a reward to you for the good life you led on earth and for serving god. the heaven in the bible is about god and you being in the presence of god, but heaven in other religions such as islam aren't liek that. i've heard that your meory won't be the same, thus you won't feel the pain of losing someone you had on earth. however i've also heard that you will be so preoccupied with yourself, as heaven is hedonistic (and rightfully so!!) that you will only be tending to your own needs, but having said that i could be wrong...

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
- Rev 21:4

I think those are the tears this verse is talking about. At this point you will see the lost whom you could have reached and didn't, and you may see them cast into the lake of fire for all eternity.

No. We will be so consumed with the joy of being with God, we will feel no regret or sorrow. Besides, if we did feel those things would it be Heaven. Those are earthly feelings, and don't have a place in Heaven.

However if all souls are bound to return to God, and be one again with God then they will be there. It depends on how you see time working, if you think Heaven (a spiritual realm) is going to work to the physically limited human concept of time, then you might worry about such things, however if you see spiritual realms as having a completely different timescale (if any at all) you can understand that your soul, and every soul in existence is at every point in it's evolution at any point in time as we know it. So although you may evolve further in one life-time, by the time you're ready to renounce your physical self and evolve into a spiritual being so will every other soul in your soul-group.

This isn't going to sound pleasent..

But, heaven isn't about YOU.. its about GOD

Heaven is a place where believers go to praise God for forever.

If your loved one did not believe in God.. then they God to hell... simple as that, yet not so nice to hear alot of the time..

We also do not remember anything from this earth.. all we know is God, we won't be the same.. we'll be different bodies.. with our joy of praising God all the time.. well there is no comprehension of time...soo ..lol

I have thought about this too. If God remembers them no more, I am also thinking we don't either.

There are no tears and heart breaks in heaven, so unless there is someone that has more scripture to offer, thats my guess.

I dont think anyone on yahoo answers will be able to give you the correct answer. We can't even comprehend the true form that heaven takes. I think, that after death there is still time to come to Christ.
