im young and healthy my doctor said it could just be lots of exercise

That happened to me to. My doctor told me to drink nothing but water for 3 days to flush it out, and then when they tested it again, I was fine. It could just be that you're dehydrated. That was the problem with me. If you're young, there's probably nothing wrong!

Here is the non-alarmist answer and the correct one. First normally proteins are not found in urine but there are exceptions. There may be protein in the urine due to a fever, or UTI, or pregnancy, or even for a short time after a vigorous exercise program. It does not all of a sudden mean you have kidney failure and your urine is foamy. There are some forms of kidney disease that will cause this and there has to be massive amounts in urine before you see foam. I am willing to bet they found the protein during a routine urine test. Chances are you are just fine, sometimes proteins are in urine and the cause is not found.

lots of exercise or exertion can cause a lot of protein in your urine. If it was a problem he would have let you know.

it can mean 1 of many disorders or an acute urinary infection if it is abnormal amounts.

perhaps dehydration, or long time since going to the bathroom. maybe excessive exertion/calorie burning. ketosis

i could be diabetics it could be lots of things like he said why not take his advice and stop woryying till hes found out what is wrong you could worry yourself to death.
