Not a problem, as the others have said. The only issue is with perishable foods, and those must be eaten or thrown away before leaving the plane. Candy is totally fine.

Yes. I brought a packed lunch and snacks onto the plane in a lunch cooler for my toddler. There was a cheese sandwhich, apples, bananas, oranges and grapes. I had no problems getting on the plane at all and this was an international flight. The only "rule" I had to follow was that all of the fresh fruit had to be eaten before we landed in the US.
