According to McDonald's ingredient list, Egg McMuffins contain the following:
Muffin (Buttered)
Wheat flour, water, yeast, wheat gluten, natural flavouring, sugar, salt, vegetable oil, soya flour. Preservative: calcium propionate. Emulsifiers: mono- and di-glycerides of fatty acids, mono- and di- acetyltartaric acid esters of mono- and di-glycerides of fatty acids. Acidity regulator: fumaric acid. Flour improver: ascorbic acid. Maize.
No poppy seeds. However, the Mild Mustard Sauce and Lite Vinaigrette Dressing do contain poppy seeds.
Consumption of food grade poppy seeds CAN cause you to test positive for opiates. Some testing labs claim that they can distinguish between this false positive and abuse but several experiments have shown that they can not. If you expect to need a drug test, you may wish to avoid poppy seed laden foods.

Poppy seeds can make a person fail a drug test, but the chances are slim. When given a DT they give you a lea way, so eating a bagel or something along those lines with poppy seeds wont effect it.

No. There are no poppy seeds in Egg McMuffins. They wouldn't affect a drug test anyway unless you ate an extremely large quantity. This may cause you to test positive for opium.

If you ate a couople of poppy seed bagels everyday for some time, there is the possiblity you could get a positive. It has happened, but it's rare. Only thing you have to worry about with an egg mcmuffin, is fat and colesterol!

It would effect a drug test, but you would have to eat 100+ pounds of poppy seeds for it to have any effect on you.

Mythbuster's did a televised test of this theory.
They ate one poppy seed bagel for breakfast, and that afternoon, took a standard drug test. They showed up positive for opium.
Make sure to only eat home-cooked foods for a few days before the test, so you know they are poppy-free.

YES. Hair follicle testing and urine testing will both show traces of opiates.
As an ongoing part of my teaching position in a high security school I was subject to drug testing. I was WARNED not to eat anything will poppy seeds as even 1 seed could make me test positive.
