Puggle

Pug / Beagle Hybrid

The Puggle is not a purebred dog. It is a cross between the Beagle and the Pug. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in either breed. This hybrid cross is recognized by the American Canine Hybrid Club. Not all of these designer hybrid dogs being bred are 50% purebred to 50% purebred. It is very common for breeders to breed multi-generation crosses. The first Puggles ever bred were bred by a breeder named Wallace Havens.

Breed Info

pug·gle (pŭg'gle) n.
a small mixed breed of dog created by mating a pug and beagle; thereby producing an energetic hound having: a thickset body; a short-haired, smooth coat of fawn, tan, and black coloring; a deeply wrinkled forehead; short legs; a curled tail; and drooping ears.

Size
Puggles grow to be 15-30 lbs. and approximately 13-15 inches at the shoulder.

Coat
Consists of short hairs. Puggles come in a wide range of colors. Fawn/Tan puggles are the most common, but some are black, white, or tri-colored. Second generation puggles take on more of the white and tan or black, tan, and white coloring.

Character
Puggles are sweet-tempered, playful, intelligent, social, and affectionate.

Temperment
This breed gets along well with children, other dogs, and other household pets.

Care
Puggles require low maintenance. Daily walks or a nice size area to play is advised.

Activity
Puggles have a good amount of energy and love to play. They enjoy going on walks and running around. Puggles also love their downtime. They love to cuddle up to you.

Training
This dog is also fairly easy to train. Puggles can learn all basic commands including: sit, down, stay, settle, take it, leave it, fetch, roll over, and come. Potty training is fairly easy and some can be trained to use a litter box.

Shedding
Puggles do shed. Their short hair and smaller size seem to help.

Barking
Some puggles do bark. Some are very quiet.

Allergies
A Puggle is not a hypoallergenic dog. If you are allergic to dogs you may be allergic to a puggle.

Howling
Some Puggles do howl on occasion. They can inherit this trait from the beagle.

Pug:
A Pug is "a lot of dog in a small space." They are perky, rambunctious and loyal, affectionate and loving, with a happy disposition. They are playful and charming. Clever and mischievous - with a heart-winning personality. They can be a bit willful. Highly intelligent, it bores easily with repetitive training practices. Pugs are sensitive to the tone of your voice, so harsh punishment is unnecessary. The dog is neither excitable nor dull. They are good watchdogs, very devoted and are not yappers. Pugs get along well with other dogs and pets, and they behave impeccably with both children and visitors. Do not forget though, that they require lots of attention and become jealous if their owner ignores them.

Beagle:
The Beagle is a gentle, sweet, lively and curious dog that just loves everyone! A happy little tail-wagger! Sociable, brave and intelligent. Calm and loving. Excellent with children and generally good with other dogs, but should not be trusted with non-canine pets, unless they are socialized with cats and other household animals when they are young. Beagles have minds of their own. They are determined and watchful and require patient, firm training. This breed doesn't like being left alone. Consider buying two if you will be gone a lot. A Beagle has a loud baying cry that was a delight to hunting horsemen, but can be disturbing to family and neighbors. Beagles have a tendency to follow their own noses. They may take off on their own exploration if let off their leash in an unfenced area.

Dog training are excellent and very helpful to build you a stronger relationship with your dog. Read more https://tinyurl.im/XwWIl

After I started training my dog, he became very attached to me and loves to stay by side as long as he can. But just going to them won't help. You have to practice what they teach you outside of the class and you need to keep up with it at least every now and then after the class ends otherwise they'll just go back to previous habits. This course is a really good place to go for dog obedience classes. It get's your dog around other people and dogs to socialize while getting the training you need. As for electric collars, I would say to not get one. In my experience, they're only a negative effect on your dog. I mean of course you're going to need to correct your dog, but being positive and encouraging your dog works a lot faster and easier.

Every dog is different, so unless you have a german shepherd or a really smart dog, it might take a while to train her. You might get frustrated with her, but go easy. She's still a puppy and has a lot of energy. A backyard or somewhere to run will help her get rid of a lot of energy that might cause her to misbehave from boredom.

I definitely think they can know names of people if they are in regular contact with them and hear their name used often enough and combined with certain actions. If I say to my dog "where`s Rosco" (my other dog) he will go and look for him and vice versa. also one of my dogs can identify colours. They have 4 rubber tug toys all the same shape and size but different colours. Blue, Red, Yellow, and Green. I put them in line and ask my dog "Where is the Blue one? or where is the yellow one and 99% of the time he picks up the correct coloured one and brings it to me. This did take a bit of conditioning him to the various colours but it does show that he can identify one colour from another in objects that are the same shape and smell. I believe dogs are much more astute than we give them credit for.

Well, it is a mutt....just a Pug/Beagle mix. Beagles bark a LOT. If you do not like the traits of Beagles, do not get a Puggle. The Pug traits do not cancel out the Beagle traits.

I prefer hair that is shoulder length or longer, And since that men who like women are more often then not directly, they like long hair because it looks more feminine, as most guys have short hair.
