not always unfortunately. if the procedure was not done properly, surface was exposed to moisture during placement all the more chance it will Not adhere to the intire biting surface of the tooth. exposing the surface to fluids/foods etc. the probability for a cavity still exists. follow instructions during placement and after to assure the sealant stays where it was intended. it is a good idea to go through with it though it is painless and a good preventable procedure.
you should also brush regularly and don't' forget to floss, sealant's are not substitutes for either.
be well..................

You do not get cavities "sealed." Sealants are placed on virgin teeth to fill in the tiny grooves of the biting surface - the places where the toothbrush can't reach. Sealants are placed on permenant back molars once they are fully grown in.

Sealants help prevent cavities, but you have to do your part to brush, floss, and limit sugar and acid intake (soda and sweets.)

If you already have a cavity, you have to have the decay drilled out and a filling placed in the tooth. That's not permanent either, but if you take good care of your teeth, it should last a long time.

YES, THEY ARE ONLY GOOD FOR NON-DECAYED TEETH. WITH TEETH THAT HAVE CAVITIES FILLINGS MUST BE DONE.
DENTAL SEALANTS MAY PREVENT SOME DECAY, BUT NOT ALL TYPES OF DECAY. FOR CAVITIES BETWEEN TEETH SEALANTS ARE FUTILE. FLOSSING WILL PREVENT THIS.
