The number of people in your bridal party totally depends on how many people you and your fiance are close to.
There are no rules with the number of attendants and or family to be involved.

You don't even have to have an even number if you don't, there are ways around that, but even numbers work best.

Besides being a groomsman or bridesmaid, there are other duties to assign like ushers, candle lighters, junior groomsman or bridesmaids, readers, musicians, singers, greeters, guestbook attendant etc etc.

So you can have as few or as many people involved as you like.

Good luck!

It should really be in relation to the amount of guests. For example, 8 bridesmaids might seem ridiculous at a wedding with 50 guests but if there are 400 guests it would seem normal. I also think 2 would not be enough at a large wedding. The average is 3 to 6.

I have had the same question. In my wedding in July 08 I am having four bridesmaid's and no grooms men. I think it is your wedding and do what you want. I want my best buds in the wedding but my soon to be hub doesn't want any, so we compromised. do what you want if you want 50 in the bridal party and you only have 20 guests who cares, it will be over in a couple of hours!

There is no average really.

I went to 3 weddings so far and there was only 2 people (the witnesses) in the wedding party.

Two of the weddings were pretty large.....about 200 guests.

I had 3 matron of honors, and one maid of honor.

On the other hand, my husband had one best man. Why didn´t he have other groomsmen to even this out? Because he is from Germany, and no one else from there could attend.

We were going to use other family members-other men-to stand up with him, but why would we? Even though this seemed uneven, the pictures are awesome-and the best man (who is single) looked like a rooster in a hen house. We had so much fun-and so did he!

I have heard that you should have 1 usher for every 50 guests and you usually have more attendants (male and female seperate) than your ushers so I would say if you are having 200 people you would need 4 ushers and maybe 6 attendants on each side.
