I was sitting back at work, reading, when a coworker asked me a question and, upon speaking, I noticed my voice was pretty much "gone" as in hoarse and unable to speak above a whisper without the voice cracking.

There was no reason for this. It's been fine all day and well, my entire life. I wasn't even talking when I lost it and I haven't had a good shouting match in something resembling a year. Any help as to why I lost my voice and what I have to do to get it back will be greatly appreciated.
