My sister Rae has violet eyes and has her whole life. Is that normal????!!!??

Genetically, it is blue eyes. Nothing more than a variation of a shade of blue. There is not a gene for "violet".

Sure, it's normal ask Elizabeth Taylor. There is a fiction book out there called "Through Violet Eyes" by Stephen Woodworth - This is a mystery that blends realism with horror. Murder victims come back to name their murderers, a feat accomplished through Violets, a group of individuals (mutants) easily recognized by their eye color, whom the government controls and uses in courts of law...
Of course the book has nothing to do with either genealogy or genetics.

It is normal for people of African descent from Papua New Guinea to have violet eyes. I also seen some Inca Indian and African people in Brazil with the same colored eyes as you describe and I think English too.

Not abnormal but definitely rare. It's an inhearited gene. Elizabeth Taylor has Violet eyes. It's considered to be very beautiful.

Is she by chance an albino? There was something I read about some albinos having a mix of red (because of the nonpigmentation, red blood vessels in the eyes) and blue eyes. I wish I had purple eyes, purple is my favorite color. Your sister is very lucky in my opinion.

Violet eyes are normal, but EXTREMELY rare. Personally, I've seen them a few times on albino children, but never on anyone else. They are beautiful.

Not common, but not abnormal. When people list possible eye colors they typically include blue, brown, green, grey, hazel...rarely will you hear violet in the list (because they are that rare).
