I can't speak for all atheists, but this atheist is for all people of all sexualities being treated completely equally under the law. Double standards need to stop.

I don't believe in the Bible. Does that mean I shouldn't think that murder is wrong? In other words, your argument is ludricrous. While I don't have any problem with homosexuality or homosexuals, I do have a problem with people making idiotic arguments like this.

The word "homophobia" is nonsensical and a misrepresentation of what's the TRUTH on a Christians perspective of homosexuality. No Christian I know FEARS homosexuality by any stretch of the imagination. It's a lie (in other words.) It's also a word used to attack and discriminate against those who don't share the same view (never will)and promotes intolerance.
I know plenty of atheists that don't think of a rectum as a sexual organ. (point blank) Pretend all you want. You feel secure doing that in here because of the co-signers.
Me? I keep it real all day, everyday.
Have a great one!

An atheist is someone who does not believe in God, period.

Perhaps there is a higher portion of atheists who DON"T condemn homosexuals, because they don't believe in a God who condemns homosexuals, but other than the non-belief in Deities, there really is no monolithic opinions among atheists about much else.

You might as well ask if Jazz enthusiasts are against socialized medicine, or if cat lovers believe in aliens.

I didn't know that there were any atheists that were against the practice of sex with the same gender. A person doesn't have to be a Bible believer to be able to see that the acceptance of same gender sex is harmful for society.

The sex drive is very strong and needs to be channeled by social mores. Also, Same gender sexual attraction is a breakdown in the normal psycho sexual development in a child. It causes strong conflicts in the subconscious of the person. A person can't be helped with a psychological disorder unless it is admitted to be one.

When I took abnormal psychology in college in 1972, homosexuality and lesbianism were listed as psychological disorders. There has been no new knowledge about homosexuality since then.

Homosexuality was removed from the list of psychological and psychiatric disorders for purely political reasons.

Homosexuality has nothing to do with religion. What a person likes or approves of is according to his own morals. An Atheist is simply a person who does not believe in the supernatural. It doesn't mean that he has no likes or dislikes.
It's like saying, " I know some Atheists who like apple pie, if you're not an Athiest, how come you eat apple pie "?
