He feels empty because he's concerned about you bashing the LDS religion. All religions contain truth within them.

Family
To see your own family in your dream, represents security, warmth and love. Consider also the significance of a particular family member or the relationship you have with them.

Death
To dream about the death of a loved one, suggests that you are lacking a certain aspect or quality that the loved one embodies. Ask yourself what makes this person special or what do you like about him. It is that very quality that you are lacking in your own relationship or circumstances. Alternatively, it indicates that whatever that person represents has no part in your own life.

to open a door in your dream means that you are going to a new chapter in your life.

what this dream could be is called an Epic Dream
this is what it means

Epic dreams (also known as Great Dreams or Cosmic Dreams) are so huge, so compelling, and so vivid that you cannot ignore them. The details of such dreams remain with you for years, as if your dreamt it last night. These dreams possess much beauty and contain many archetypal symbology. When you wake up from such a dream, you feel that you have discovered something profound or amazing about yourself or about the world. It feels like a life-changing experience

I had a dream similar to this after my own father died, I was in an artifical riverbed (like the one in the film Grease and many other Hollywood films) and he was standing there, but it wasn't really him, more like a puppet of him, and this woman's voice told me that he is happy and has moved on now, and don't worry for him anymore.

This was very comforting at the time, as I had been having trouble coming to terms with my grief.

I think your dream is a message from the other side, that he is still thinking of you and watching over you, even if substantially speaking he is no longer with you (the invisibility). There was a door? Nice dream.

I've heard when you dream of a loved one very close to you after they have passed that the grief process is complete but I just don't buy that.

Were you thinking something about him that day before the dream? Maybe he is trying to tell you something in your life is empty and missing something, not necessarily him.....

It means you want him back and you love him. Since you're opening the door for him...you are inviting him into your life and into your world. The fact that he was light in your dream signifies that he has no problems and you feel that he might be guiding you to solve yours.

Dream analysis is somewhat flawed, particularly when not in possession of all the facts. It is possible that this dream was just abstract without conveying any meaning beyond that. Sometimes we do just dream things that seem obscure or just don't make any logical sense, so please do not worry about what it may - or may not - mean.

Hi! Please don't be spooked. He's trying to peacefully tell you he's okay. He'll visit you again in future dreams. Both of my parents have visited me in dreams. Don't be afraid. God Bless.

Respectfully, J.
