I'm an expectant father (boy in November!) and writing a blog about pregnancy from a guy's perspective http://blog.almostadad.com and I'm looking for info from pregnant women. My wife has broken a bunch of stuff and just seems clumsy, has anyone else experienced this?

OMG... I had a chuckle when I read this question.... I got a new part time job while I was pregnant at a copy center.. It was a nightmare.. Not only was I a clumsy, huge whale.. I was so weepy and emotional... I was a nightmare ! Anyway, the machine's were so close together and the buttons were so tiny on the machine's I was constantly pushing the wrong number of copies or getting lodged between machines' etc.. I had a customer that was waiting for service one night and I was getting frustrated with one of the machine's and the customer was getting mad because he had to wait and he was yelling at me but, I was facing away from him.. When I turned around and he saw that I was pregnant and due any moment that's why I was moving so slowly from the back.. I think he wanted to fall through the floor ! I also knocked over a back to school crayon display and I couldn't bend down far enough to pick anything up so I had to call for assistance ! Very pathetic and embarassing ! It was horrible and I couldnt' wait to go on maternity leave I also worked with some skinny, young "bi t ch es " that were terrible to me.. Does that help you or do you need more? ....LOL Good luck

Of course you seem clumsy and break stuff...

The further along in pregnancy you are, the more ungainly your body to say the least. Imagine putting on thirty pounds over nine months, with most of it out in front of you. Your center of gravity is off. Everything you've always know about your body and how to handle it has changed.

Add to that being tired...during the beginning of pregnancy you are just plain tired. Toward the end of pregnancy, you have a hard time getting good sleep, the baby is tap dancing on your bladder, you may have a nasty bout with sciatica, and it seems that whenver you lay down, a mosh pit erupts in your stomach, with poking feet, arms, legs, and hands.

Don't worry...it will all get back to normal soon.

Yeah! you get really clumsy in pregnancy its to do with hormonal changes that can cause your joints to loosen, especialy in your toes and fingers. i am always worried about tripping on my own feet after i fell over 2 months ago when i was about 4 months pregnant...which frightened me because it was on concrete and i fell straight on my stomach i was raving about seeing a doctor for days. still haunts me till this day to be honest! but last month the scan detected nothing wrong! good thing its so protected in there.
At least all the people around at the time had a good laugh about it! damn losers! i got so angry! i was like if anythings wrong with my little boy you DIE!! haha!
I definatly wouldnt have laughed if a pregnant women fell over on her stomach,id at least help her up!
Shocking with people today!!

I also found out my sister fell over around the same time in her pregnancy and my mother around 7 months.
Im really clumsy with cups of tea too! im never asked to carry in a cuppa now!! hehe!

I know once you get bigger your balance just goes out the window. My husband laughs at me b/c I trip over nothing, the other day I was in the shower and i kept leaning towards the shower curtain TWICE i did it within a few min. lol, first pregnancy i was outside and this bee was by me and im allergic to them and I started running away and fell on all fours, last week I got up, tripped over my daughter's toys, caught the upper part of my underarm on the corner of the playpen and slid on my knee causing carpet burn.
Congrats on your boy big daddy!

Yes, I did get very clumsy, AND bruised my tailbone (ouch!!!) when I slipped on some stairs. For weeks it seemed like things would just fall right out of my hands when I was holding them. It seemed to be worse early on and then gradually improved. I don't know what would cause this but it was true for me :)

I fell at a ceremony last year because my high heels were slippery. It was pretty bad. I slipped while taking a step and fell backwards, let out a high pitch squeal of EEK!, hit my head on the floor, and just kinda laid there for a few seconds before getting the courage to get back up..... I really hope that no one remembers that.

I was a little clumsy. At work I fell down a flight of concrete stairs. It scared me soooo much, I went to the OBGYN to make sure the heart beat was good right away.
I was also a little (lot) scatterbrained.

Yes, i am very clumsy, and fell over a number of times. There are lots of things going on in our bodies when we are pregnant, and i think that co-ordination is probably not a really important one. As long as you are there to help her when she does fall, and make sure she tries not to fall on her tummy.

What are you kidding??? All the time!!!
I knocked more things over and lost my balance and fell more times than I can count. Thank goodness baby is safe inside what my husband deemed "The Fishbowl" or all heck would have broken loose.

It's really common.

I was super clumsy with all 3 of my pregnancies. It's becuase your growing belly throws off your balance because it shifts your center of gravity.
