i just became a manager at a wendys and the customers really piss me off! first of all they never leave a tip and then complain because the employees are rude...i mean if want to get treated special, then at least throw the cashier a buck or two! they have some f****** nerve coming in and complaining because a employee who makes minimum wage does not treat them like royalty, what do they expect. and then they expect their food within 30 seconds or they get all pissed off, it is absolutely impossible to please these people. why don't they leave a tip if they want to get treated so well.

Unfortunately, I don't know ANYONE who leaves a tip at fast food restaurants - and I have never even HEARD of the practice...
And to make it worse - the general attitude of the customers is "I am ordering FAST FOOD - so it should be ready BEFORE I even get there!"
Some people in this world simply have NOTHING else better to do - they don't see servers as people, only as a means to get the food that THEY are paying for...
That's not to say that the servers aren't rude to the customers from time to time - ALL of us are human, and we make mistakes sometimes. It's only when this complaining becomes constant does it become a problem!

I was a manager at a Wendy's for 2 years and in all that time I had exactly 3 complaints during my shifts...just 3. I will honestly admit that each of those incidents were our fault and even when I had a customer call me an ignorant bimbo, I never raised my voice, I smiled, said we were all terribly sorry, and fixed the problem to the best of my ability (although in the bimbo incident the store owner intervened and ordered the customer out of the store.) If you are experiencing a large number of complaints, than you need to re-evaluate what is happening in your restaurant to cause so much anger with your customers. It could be your attitude...people can sense these things.
As far as wages and tips go, the reason people do not tip at fast food restaurants is because they aren't receiving at table service. If you and your employees aren't happy with your wages, you have every right to ask for more, or failing that, find a job that pays what you believe you deserve...but as it stands you took this job knowing full well what your salary would be, and agreed to do the job anyway.
I also highly doubt you are really a manager if you have this kind of attitude about your job.

I don't think it matters what kind of industry you are in, there are always annoying customers. You have to learn not to take it personally. There are some people that are never happy no matter what you do for them, but I think for the most part they are few and far between.
I manage a Subway and we don't normally get tips. Every once in awhile a customer will leave a tip for the team. We are usually very thankful and excited when we receive one and treat ourselves to a cookie or two on the generous customer.
I think customers should be treated like royalty. They are why we have jobs. The more customers I have, the more money I make.
Unfortunately, I really believe that the way a manager acts is the way their employees will act. You must have some very unhappy employees.

The only time I've ever complained at Wendy's is when they screw up my order. Is it really that hard to put french fries in a bag? If thinking that makes me a jerk, then so be it.
And tipping isn't customary at fast food restaurants because you DO make minimum wage. If you want tips, become an actual server and try working for $2.15/hr. And then complain.

It sounds like your customers are "demanding" no more than the behavior that is asked of the EMPLOYEE by the corporate guidelines set forth for them.
I used to work at Burger King. People have high expectations for fast food because MOST fast food places have it down to a science.

I would NEVER leave a tip at Wendy's. It is not customary to tip for fast food.
With a manager like you, I am not surprised you get so many complaints. The customer is always right. You should be training your employees to provide excellent customer service, then you won't get as many complaints. Granted, some people will complain about anything, but it sounds like you could make some improvements if you want happier customers.

I didn't know tipping was expected in fast food places, none the less complaint's should be handled without the customer getting rude.

If I were your boss, I'd fire you. You need to find other employment. It is NOT customary to tip for fast food, and tipping and decent service have nothing to do with each other. Your thinking is all mixed up. Good service is part of the job, tips are for exceptional service, and I repeat, NOT CUSTOMARY for fast food.
I repeat, if I were your boss, you'd be fired. YOU are probably the reason behind so many complaints in your store, as well.

Hmmm...
Sounds like maybe you're in the wrong line of business...
To the best of my knowledge NOBODY leaves tips at fast food restaurants due to the fact that you pick up your own food.
