THERE IS A WAY!!! Trust me, all is not lost. You have to send what is called a Goodwill Letter. Its better if you have been current for a while on whatever it was that you were late on. Was there a valid reason for why you were late? Like lost your job, were on military duty, etc? If so, that is very helpful in getting those marks removed other than saying you were just lazy and forgot. Go to MyFico.com and read the forums. You can find samples of Goodwill Letters to help you! Good luck!

If they were actually late payments, you cannot remove them. They are a valid part of your credit history, and will remain there for about seven years.

If you do not want late payments to be in your credit file, then simply do NOT pay late.

Are they legitimate late payments, or are they on your report and they're not yours?

If they're legitimate late payments, best thing to do is to pay them off and then they will show as paid.
