No it has nothing to do with that, nor does it have anything to do with the Military.

There are literally hundreds of bridges in the USA that are old and past there "use by date" as shown on a recent documentry.
The cost of retro fitting these bridges and the time needed to do the work is literaly millions of dollars and years.
The USA as neither the manpower or the equipment to fix the problem at the same time.
You can equate the problem to all the defective railways and signal systems in the U.K. which cannot be fixed at the same time either.

No not really. This Virginia boy is married to a Yankee girl from Minneapolis and I can tell you the winters are plenty hard there. Combine the extremes of weather with the constant salting of the roads and you can imagine what 40 years will do to steel truss bridge.
Our prayers should be with these folks and not heartless acrimony.

Dont be so pathetic. You think bridges have only collapsed in the USA?? Why cant you show concern for the people who are trapped and lost their life instead of posting such an idiotic question.

I don't think they're cheapskates...it's just an accident. They probably didn't plan the collapse of a bridge.

No noe knows yet why the bridge collapsed, and you are an @$$ for asking that question less than 3 hours since it has happened.

What an asinine thing to say ! You have no information for the reason of the collapse, yet you're ready to make ridiculous comments such as this ! Shame on you !

No... that's why they call it an accident. Where are you from? I bet your country has some major engineering blunders too.

I would add the Chernobyl disaster and the Union Carbide chemical spill in India to that list.
