Currently we ride on the back of a mining export boom mostly to China, this has given Australia vast economic strength, at the risk of what ? Is it to risky to export minerals or iron ore to foreign places like China ? Certainly banned with North Korea, but shouldn't trade sanctions exist so that our exports can't be returned in the form of Artillery, bullrts or bombs ?

Well, China has most favored trade nation status. The US depends on them for low cost consumer goods, because the US is no longer a nation that manufactures pretty much anything. It would be irrational to refuse to supply China or other nations with which we do business, the means to produce the things we wish to buy from them.

On the other hand, your contention that China represents a potential foreign foe doesn't take into consideration that pretty much ANY nation is a potential foreign foe. Let's deal with these nations where they are at, rather than assume that we'll be at eachother's throats in 10 or 20 years.

If one country bans it then they will get it somewhere else. Where are you going to get your cheap consumer goods from if you don't trade with China?
