I think it's very rude when a hostess takes you to your table, but then you have to stand and wait on her to get everything situated. Don't you agree she should seat your party first?

In this scenario, assume the table is already clean and ready to go. Some hostesses take their time with menu and napkin placement.

No. laying the places to an occupied table would be awkward, inefficient, and most of all Rude to repeatedly reach across a customer. Dining out should not feel like being at home, otherwise, why pay money for service, stay home. ideally (if time allows), the table should be set before a party arrives to the table, but, no, she was most correct in her actions.

Well, excuse me, sorry that they couldn't treat you like the king you are. Get over it! They don't know who many people will be seated, and to not waste utensils they wait until you're as s is ready to be seated-so they can have th right amount and not remove any unused utensil or be in your way. There are so many hostess, not everyone is catering to your as s. One does the call; the other sits and then other helps clean, if you seriously think that's not good enough for you, then don't go out to eat!

You are right, the table should be ready for you. She should seat you and then hand you the menu.

However, you should not be expected to get this level of service at Denny's. Adjust your expectations to the establishment and remember that you get what you pay for!

Normally this process shouldn't take very long. It sounds like you like to gripe. Your complaints probably don't make the meal more pleasant for the people you are with, perhaps you should consider who is rude.

Because they want the table to be ready for the customer - and for them to SEE that the same utensils, etc. haven't been sitting there for hours collecting germs/dust/whatever ;););)

Nope.. I think she might have been trying to get you out of line, and close to your table.. I would much rather her have me stand there, than seat me there and start wiping..

If she takes you to your table, definitey SIT DOWN!! I don't like when they leave you standing in line, while she goes to your future table and does all that stuff!! :)
