i just found it and it said on it sell by august 2006. its a steak and its been in the freezer the whole time. is it safe or will i get sick?

You won't get sick.
As long as it's not too freezer burnt it should be ok.
A good way to find out is to cook it and try it.It won't have gone bad.May just be a bit tough.

You won't get sick if the meat was frozen solid the whole time. It may not taste as good, but as long as it wasn't bad before it got frozen, it will still be fine.

I have cooked meat that was older than that, and it was fine (we usually buy a whole cow at a time).

If it has a funny smell when it is first thawed out or when you are first cooking it though, I would suggest you throw it out.

For your safety, it's better not to eat that frozen meat. It has been contaminated.

If it has been frozen all that time, and not defrosted, it will be alright.
