There are many problems to *all* relationships, even when you are dealing with two honest people who are looking for love, and genuinely trying to make things work out well:

1) Different backgrounds. Especially in the U.S., you have people from different upbringings, and with different ethnicities, who are only familiar with their way of doing things, and expect that everyone else thinks/acts relatively similar. In reality, there is a wide range of acceptable behaviors, and although these might be tolerable in everyday situations, it becomes harder when you live with the other person.

2) Different communication styles / interpretations. What might qualify as a "game" to you, might seem perfectly legitimate to the other person. Also, as someone else mentioned, behavior we do to others may not seem so bad, until we are on the receiving end of the same treatment. There are also cases of genuine misunderstanding, where what was said / done was not meant to be interpreted negatively. See the article (below), for differences between something as simple as how men and women interpret sexiness in women.

3) The benefits of games. Like it or not, sometimes advantages are gained by playing games, being less than honest, and otherwise shopping for the best member of the opposite sex that can be had. When people put up with this, it only leads to less trust, and a more cutthroat dating/marriage environment.

The problem, then with trying to get rid of the games, is that it's a lot like nuclear disarmament... each side wants the other to get rid of the stuff first.... and verification is always a problem.

KDJ, this old man is behind your petition 100%. Luckily I have found a woman and married her just over two months ago and we are very capable and do practice the art of communication. Although not a completely lost art form yet, too many of todays people not only play foolish games while in relationships but also view these relationships as too much of today's society - disposable.

Read Men are from Mars, women are from Venus. After that, relationships should be easy with just a little hard now and then. Too much effort needed, you are not meant to be together

Its so hard to give your feelings to a person, and show who u really are for fear of rejection and a misunderstanding. I know where u are coming from. But in the end its soo rewarding to find the person u cant live without because they know u. So in the end u wont know what pleasure is until u go thru the pain.

I do wish the world could be like that. Unfourtunately, there will always be a liar. I do agree, though, the world would be much better if games and avoidance could be removed from the mix. Believe me, i've had many a game played with my head.

Sounds great, but their are alot of people out there that aren't sure of their feelings...one minute feel one way and the next minute another...hard to communicate that......try sticking with the people that you know are sure of what they want and that will cut down alot of stress for you~smile~
