so why are some people who call themselves christians so quick to disregard the old testament?
Acts 3:13 says The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified His servant Jesus, the one whom you delivered and disowned in the presence of Pilate, when he had decided to release Him.

I believe it is for the same reason that the Roman emperor forced the pagan trinity doctrine into his newly created 'state religion'.
The Romans did not want a 'Jew God', they wanted their own god which they had been worshipping long before Jesus came to earth.
So they basically took the Jewish God out of the picture as much as they could by trying to say that His only-begotten son and servant Jesus was somehow equal to Him.

Even today you will see that many of the religions that claim to be "christian" have wickedly removed Christ's Father's Holy Name out of their versions of the Bible!!!

Did you know that YHWH (Jehovah in English) was originally in the Bible in almost 7,000 places?

They have erased the One whom Jesus worships and calls "the only true God" at John 17:3

it's truly disgusting and an offense to the one true Almighty God YHWH/Jehovah

agape!

I have no idea. This question, in some form, is asked over and over again.

Many Christians say that the Old Testament is outdated. That the Laws do not apply to our 'modren' times. Interesting how the Orthodox Jews keep these Laws every day.

Others say that the Law is a mirror and its only use is to show sin.

Others just forget the Old Testament except for the parts that are mentioned in the New Testament either by Paul or Jesus. Examples of this would include homosexuality, murder, salvation and other 'commandments'.

I believe they deny parts or all of the Old Testament because to embrace all increases the chance of the realization that Jesus is not the Messiah.

True. At Ps. 83:18, Jehovah is called the Most High. At Luke 1:32, Jesus is called the Son of the Most High. Those two scriptures harmonize completely with what Acts 3:13 says about God and Jesus being SEPARATE persons. So we know that Jehovah is the one to be worshiped--NOT God's "servant," Jesus.

When people say there is no Jesus in the Old Testament it shows they don't know what they are taking about. Real Christians know how to use the Old and New Testaments. The world doesn't do so good with it.

We dont disregard the Old Testament. But we are no longer under the Old Covenant. Read Galatians.
Galatains 3:24-25--Wherefore the law was our school master to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
VS. 25- But after that faith is come we are no longer under a school master.
