Some people do and some don't think that darker skin is pretty. That thought originates from alot of the old ways of thinking when the only idea of beauty presented to the public was a lighter skin tone. There were no darkskinned idols for a long time. I do not even remember dark complected babydolls. Only one shade of face powder and pantyhose. To tell you the truth it never mattered what color anything was when I was a kid. My parents never displayed their views on color.

Anything different than what has been presented in the past brings about change, and that is hard for people to do. Because these ideas we learned as children. I wanted to be Farrah Fawcett as a child. Tv and magazines had a big effect on my childhood. As I got older I learned to love the way I look.Being lighter was looked at as an advantage because no one could tell what race an individual was.

Anything dark in color in some traditions was considered bad at one time in history. This was done keep things separate, and was instilled from an early age for many people. Dark skin was viewed by alot of women as a problem instead of a gift. That's not always the case. It's the mind set that you hold about the skin tone that causes a problem, not the color. Neither one is better because they both hold the same human structures and have imperfections. Think of it this way. If it's not the skin tone it will always be something else.

Im white as anything and i love dark skin, i would almost burn in the sun to get there but i just go red! I have to fake!
My fiance loves dark skinned girls, the darker the skin, the prettier it is he rekons, which is why its strange hes with me, but he does love it.

everyone is different, and not everyone will like the same thing.

who ever said you didnt have pretty skin, hun they are lying. Coming from someone that is dark cuz im native american.
when i was younger people us to make fun of me for being darker then everyone else. now that im older, people always say "do you go tanning?" cuz i wish i had your skin.

I'm totally white, but I love dark skin. My favorite model has dark skin, along with my best friend. I'm so envious of her. She just glows all the time. I would kill to have dark skin. Look at how well Naomi Cambell and Tyra Banks have done!

There are billions of people who think dark skin is beautiful, myself included. I thought I learned in Anthropology class that there are millions more dark skinned people on this earth than light.

I think when more people begin to understand that culture and color are two different things entirely, there will be a dramatic blending of the population, and Barbies will look like Halle and Kens will look like Denzel.

I think that it comes from the past.
Previously only peasants and laborers had skin that was browned by the sun.
The aristocrats and nobility no matter from what country..England, Spain, etc. didn't do menial labor and having tanned skin was a big no no and considered low..

I think personally that each shade of skin has its qualities.

SOME people are THAT "particular..." I think ALL skin colors are beautiful- because they EACH bring a new standard of "beauty" to the World. And you CAN'T have "too much"- of a wonderful thing! :)
