Ask your vet to exam your dogs ears. By making a smear the vet or technician can search for mites,bacteria and fungus.
Typically dogs get yeast infection and cats have the mites!

It would have black, crumbly matter in the ears. It really needs to be diagnosed by a vet. Ear mites are not common in dogs. An ear infection is more common.
