NO, and don't do it.
Canceling a credit card will hurt your credit rating. It is better to just cut the card up and leave the account unused. That way it won't hurt you and you won't be tempted to use it. It doesn't cost you anything to have a credit card, unless you accepted one of those ridiculous offers, so keep it open.
The credit remains unused so it is open for other use, but once established it is there so it can be used; which is good for you.
If you signed up for a credit card with a yearly fee then by all means cancel it. If never signed up for one of those, I had to wait 2 years before Capitol One agreed to give me one, but I avoided the crushing yearly fee. If I didn't then having the card would be a liability and canceling the card would be a liability.

If you want to cancel the card, you could always call the 800 number on the back of the card and tell them you want the card canceled - its that easy!

No, but you do write a letter once you've paid them off and tell them you want to cancel the card, . and keep a copy of it for your file.
That is all you need to do. Phone calls don't work.

I've never sent a form letter, I just call them up and cancel it.
If you send them a letter, it will 'accidently' get lost and they won't cancel it.

there is but most likely you'll pay for it. you're better off just writing a letter stating that you want to close your account.
