well, patroneo7 is right in that catholics are the first and largest christian sect. but to go a bit deeper then that, catholics beleive in something called transubstanction. witch means that the bred and wine used for comuinion litraly transfigers into the body and blood of christ ( i never bought this all those years I went to mass, it always tasted like crackers and sour grape juice to me) as far as I know this is something that is uniquely catholic ( though I might be wrong) catholics also beleive that when you confess to a preist, the preist isnt really a man at that moment he is the embodiment of god. after the confession the preist isnt even allowed to aknoweldge that you or they were in the confessional, catholics beleive that mary and other saints can intercede with god on your behalf, put in a good word as it were, catholics believe that the pope is infalable in spiritual, and moral proclimations. as far as I know thease are all things that only catholics beleive in. so those are some of the ways in witch catholics differ from other christian sects

Catholic and Christian are two terms for the same thing.
In Christ
Fr. Joseph
Slo18,
Catholics teach transubstantiation which is a defining of the miracle by Christ that takes place in the Eucharist when the bread and the wine become the body and Blood of Christ. There are others that believe in this as well, although they may define it somewhat differently. They are the Orthodox, autocephalous Catholics, Lutherans, Moravians and Anglican Episcopals. You are correct that priests act “in persona Christi” but are wrong in believing that they are no longer men but the embodiment of God. A priest acts for God but does not become God. Catholics do believe that all saints and members of the Church may pray for each other out of love for each other and encouragement in faith. Other churches believe in the communion of saints as well.
Amberdoo93,
Catholics do not pray their prayers to St. Mary. They only ask St. Mary to pray for them to God just as one would ask any other Church member to pray for them. Catholics pray directly to God.
Purgatory is a preparatory place to enter heaven for those who still suffer the residual effects of sin. It is a place of cleansing before being in the presence of God in heaven. Purgatory is part of heaven.
Yes Catholics are Baptized as infants as well as most other Christians besides Catholics. Only a minority of Christians practice “believers baptism” which Jesus forbade saying: "Allow the little children to come to me, and don't hinder them, for the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” Baptism in the Catholic Church is the washing away of sins, not in a symbolic way but in reality as it removes original sin and gives the Baptized the gift of the Holy Spirit and salvific grace. It is through Baptism that Catholics are “born again”.

Catholic is a subset (probably the largest subset) of Christians. From a theological point of view, the differences are minor; the big differences are in church government and doctrine.

There is none. You mean Protestants and Catholics. They are both Christians. But the Protestants are a heck of alot more arrogant, pushy, and ignorant.

well, i used to be a catholic before i became a christian.
catholics pray their prayers to Mary, who then prays our prayer toward Jesus.
catholics also believe in Pergatory, a place were dead people go. The living relatives then pray over and over again that they would go out of pergatory and into heaven.
catholics be baptised when their young.
christians pray directly towards Jesus, and you can pray to him whever, and praying towards Jesus is more like talking to him and building a relationship with him.
christians believe that when you die, if you accepted jesus into your life, your last breath on earth means your first breath in heaven. no pergatory.
and christians be baptised sometime after accepting jesus christ into their lives, it symbolises being a sinner and having all their sins be washed away.
