How to deal with unprofessionalism?
i work in a very very professional environment (ie hospital), and a few of us students are doing an internship their and one of the students is makes very unprofessional comments about me infront of other professionals. I have approached her and told her about it but she does not take too many things seri0ously and continues to make these comments. I don't mind the comments (i mostly ignore her) but when she makes it infront of other professionals (ie mds) it is very uncomfortable, How can I get her to stop. She is the type of girl who craves attention and likes to be center of attention, and who makes herself feel better by putting down others (ie me and some other students).

Tell your advisor about it. Learning ethics is a big part of the medical field, and if this chick can't even act professionally, what does that say about her patient skills?

Usually those type of people do themselves in by showing those who matter that they are indeed unprofessional. Continue to ignore her and try to get the others to do the same. If she is ostracized socially by you all, perhaps she will get the message? But usually these losers dont, so you may have to get the group together and speak with your teacher, leader, manager or whomever is in charge of you interns. Its really sick

I'm surprised the doctors in the group haven't spoken up and either told her off or gone to faculty and complained. If they haven't you certainly should. Also, if it happens again, I would put my hand up (as in 'talk to the hand, don't talk to the face'), have a frown on my face, and say something like, "Excuse me, Susie Q, but now is not the time or place for the rest of us to be listening to your personal commentary about me. Please keep your jokes for that stand-up routine you do in the evenings.".....and IMMEDATELY turn to one of the docs and ask some question relevant to what you are studying, etc...

Tell her that when your in front of your superiors that you would appreciate if she wouldn't make comments. If she keeps on give the silent treatment, since she craves attention she might shut up when she sees that your not giving her any attention.

Professionally. That means tactfully.
Don't put yourself at their level by ranting, under no circumstance, then you are just as unprofessional.

Tell your supervisor first, and if that doesn't work start telling her off. Good night!

Try not to stand next to her, and ignore her. :)

In other words, she outperforms you, and you resent it.
