YES

The Bible says. God said "Let the earth bring for the the creatures of the sea." That is evolution each reproducing following it's kind.

The creation of Adam and Eve was in God's image. That means that it was a spiritual creation not a physical creation.

The six days of Genesis are "God days" not earth days sinse the earth didn't exist yet.

I could go on.

Evolution is science. It is no more a question of belief than physics, chemistry, geology or any of the other sciences. Creationism is religion and is a belief as there is no evidence to support it. Evolution is one of the most robust scientific theories. It is stronger and there is more evidence for it than there is for other theories like gravity or the germ theory of disease.

The creations described in Genesis are just two of the many creation myths around the world. They are not science. Accept them as allegorical and you will have no trouble with science. Believe them to be literally true and you have to reject all science, mathematics and a lot of history as well. It's up to you.

that's good! the main important distinction is: Conservatives have self belief in God, smaller government, and private accountability. Liberals go through a psychological sickness and have self belief (examine as dream) that the State (i.e. government) would desire to play the functionality of God so as to create a Heaven in the worldwide (the place there is not any opt for for private accountability b/c the government will make all alternatives for all persons). i'm surprisingly specific that's what the tale above gets at.

contrary to popular belief, this doesn't have to be a simple either/or debate. as long as people can learn to leave the science to science and the religion to religion, and quit trying to use each to disprove the other. (the person who claims that evolution is based on the lack of god is a perfect example of this. evolution says nothing about GOD because it's about SCIENCE. hello.)

you can appreciate the creation stories without taking them as a literal, absolute truth. does admitting that the world wasn't created in 7 easy steps ruin your religious faith? i don't think it has to. the story of creation can be perfectly complementary to evolution, as long as you have an open mind and a drive to interpret things in a not-so-literal fashion.

Pope John Paul II thought so. If the Roman Catholic Church -- which only took about 350 years before finally admitting that Galileo was right -- can recognize the strong evidence supporting evolution, then it's definitely OK.

Of course it's okay to believe in both. Pope JP did say that the Church accepts evolution didn't he? Both coincide somehow but nobody knows how yet. Have faith but don't be ignorant to the truth.

Yes, it's ok to believe in evolution.

No, evolution is incompatible with a literal genesis.

Okay with who? I believe in evolution, and most of the educated civilized world does as well.

yes, God gave us both faith and reason. I dont' think that the Biblical creation story should be interpreted literally, because there are 2 different ones! The purpose of the creation story is not purely natural, but teaches us a higher more important reality, namely, who God is, who we are, the purpose of marriage, etc. Gdo bless.

Look at the evidence for evolution. Read about biology, then you will not have to guess about what to think. You will have figured it out for yourself.
