I hear my christians use this term when refering to the bible. Having just finished reading it I had a question to those who say this is the word of god.

I will use the traditional authors even if most scholars agree that almost all of the text were not in fact written by them.

Matthew -matthew
Mark - mark
Luke -luke
John - john
Acts -luke
Romans -paul
1 Corinthians -paul
2 Corinthians -paul
Galatians -paul
Ephesians -paul
Philippians paul
Colossians -paul
1 Thessalonians -paul
2 Thessalonians -paul
1 Timothy -paul
2 Timothy -paul
Titus -paul
Philemon -paul
Hebrews _paul
James -james
1 Peter -peter
2 Peter -peter
1 John -john
2 John -john
3 John john
Jude jude
Revelation john

since these books were all obviously written by men, either to other men or about other men, what part exactly is inspired by god. I mean if jesus wrote it I could at least understand why some might call it that but he didn't even write a single word.

tuberoot is that really the best answer you can come up with? There is no logic whatsoever in your statement.

sword lord you may be able to use that for the OT but certainly not for the NT which we are discussing here.

At best these writings can only be described as the words of the prophet / soothsayer / apostle / disciple or some other such thing.
They are writen in the words of individual human beings, no more, no less. The writings are the individual views of these writers.
The same goes for all the other writings that have been de-selected from the bible.

well
2Peter 1:21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

The Bible was given to men by the Holy Spirit and they were told what to write down. From the beginning to the end.

They won't answer this... it's too much for their processor. ;) {beep can't compute...}

Most of the stories were passed on by word of mouth, some for thousands of years, before they were written. Along the way, some of the names were changed and the story diluted; depending on the era, culture, and social needs of any given civilization. Ever heard of Constitine or the Dead Sea Scrolls?

Ive always wondered that too and I asked a pastor and he said that god was their muse and put the ideas for the writing in their heads.

That's something that God did. He made it so that only those people who He wants can understand the relationship between Himself and those that trust Him.

Atheists can't seem to get that. No matter what I say. I like that fact.

God wants only certain people in His 'club'.

Sorry, but you don't seem to be one of those people.

The word of God is not for people who don't believe. The 'word of God' is for those who trust Him. So bang your head against it all you want. It makes no difference to me how you spend your time.
