I was wondering if it is possible to switch branches if you havn't fulfilled your contract. I have heard that there is a way to get out of your contract if you havn't reached the 6 month mark. Does anybody know if this is true?

I doubt you will be able to do this after just 6 months. If you switch from any of the services to the Marine Corps, you will have to go to boot camp all over again, and I doubt that the government would want to pay for that after just having paid for the other boot camp. I suspect if you were near the end of your contract, it might be possible, but if the unit you are currently assigned to needs you, you are most likely out of luck. The years go by faster than you think, just finish your contract and then make the move.

The only "cross-decking" I'm familiar with is that of Navy Hospital Corpsmen transferring to the Marines. That law has been around for over sixty years. It works the other way too, with Marines becoming Navy Corpsmen.

That is pure unadulterated BS if you think they will let you go give it a try trust me ,BUT you could volunteer for IA if you really want ot get shot at that badly. Chances are if you have been in anywhere near 6 months you finished boot and your Schooling unless your a NUKE or a twidget or a twidget hybrid i.e. EM.

Easier if you are an officer...a lot more difficult if you are enlisted.
