I'm retired U.S. military. I have a retirement but not too much. So maybe living in a "territory" part of the U.S. could be good or bad. Also, I wouldn't have to worry about immigration being a U.S. citizen an all. But, where is a good place to go or start looking at.

Yes best to ask this question under America - NOT Australia.

If you know Spanish, than Puerto Rico might be a good place to start. It is one of the larger territories of the US, and has a lot of diversity as far as places to live.

If you aren't interested in Puerto Rico, try looking at Guam, another well known territory of the US.

There are also US Virgin Islands, however all of the ones I have named use USD as their currency so if you were looking for a place where the exchange rate might make your retirement last, these probably aren't ones you would consider.

Also, a lot of retirees find that expatriating is a good option. Research a country where you speak the language or want to learn the language. Getting residency is a bit of work but many people in my family that have done so found it well worth the trouble.

As this is the Australia section, not the American territory section, you probably won't find too many knowledgeable answers here. Despite some suggestions to the contrary, Australia is not an American territory yet.

You would have to worry about usa immigration. We changed things up a bit since 9/11. The cost of living is cheaper in texas plus it's a military melting pot.
