I'm definitely recovered. The only painful part is dealing with the family dysfunction that follows a departure. The JWs aren't the only one's who try to beat ya down. They're just the ones who go straight to kicking you in the balls. It's kinda like a gang. If you want to leave, you gotta "jump out" and take an emotional beating from your family who now refuses to associate with you if they're still in it. Unfortunately, I still get the drunk-dial bible calls and occassional admonishment to go back to the "light". But fortunately, my mom who is JW is coming around, and we have a pretty good relationship now.

Truth be told I'm happier than ever. I don't believe in god or the bible or any of that stuff, but I don't discourage any of my religious family members from following their faiths. We have Catholics, Muslims, Church of Christ, JW, Atheists, Pagans and probably more denominations in my family that I don't know about. Sadly, only the Atheists and Pagans are tolerant. What does that tell you?

I guess JWs are the last frontier whereto religions are concerned. The facts that so many are leaving the organization and move on with their lives proves there is LIFE after JWs.
I was born Orthodox Christian, by the age of 12 I was keenly interested in Taoism, by the age of 17 I took a trip to Tibet where I stayed for 3 months within the confinement of a Buddhist monastery. Then I went back to study the bible only to end up within the Scientology ranks. Years later, when I begin to realize that true knowledge should sprang from within, JWs happen to ring on my doorbell. I was ripe for their doctrines but nothing had me prepared for their “do as I say but don’t look to what I do” act. When I choose to disassociate them it was a free fall that I took only to realize that all these steps were just preparatory for the actual revelation regarding religious abuse in all its forms and dogmas.
Worship in truth and spirit is exactly what it signifies. True union with God/Goddess and all living organisms within this universe is where I stand today.
Once you’re true in your heart and conscious of the union of spirit and matter (God/Goddess) there are no spiritual or otherwise any bondage to keep you grounded by the restrains of any religion.

Absolutely!!!

Next Tuesday, 8/5, I will be giving my testimony in full in the Paltalk chatroom called "Ex JW following Jesus Testimonies". Please join me there if you have Paltalk or are able to download the on-line software so you can. In answer to your question, here is an excerpt from my testimony:

I have the greatest support I could ever ask for: Jesus Christ has watched over me every step of the way, since I left the Watchtower—even in the days before I came to know Him. If He hadn't, I know that I would not be alive today. When I would feel at my most abandoned and alone, I was always reminded of the psalmist who said, "When my father and mother forsake me, you, Lord, lift me up" (Psalm 27:10). I could also apply Jesus admonition to my situation, when he said that even family would turn against you for the sake of the Gospel. If that is the price of having a personal walk with my Lord and Savior, then it is well worth it to me. Jesus said that no one leaves families, houses, or possessions behind to follow him that will not reap one hundred fold in this life and the next.

He has sustained me and has always provided for my every need. It is only by the grace and mercy of God that I have come through the blackest years of my life--even a horrific car accident, three years ago, that I miraculously survived against all the odds. I am more than a conqueror through Christ who strengthens me! Today, my resolve against the Watchtower and all it stands for, is borne of conviction, rather than the rebellion of my youth. Jesus Christ has, indeed, brought me from Jehovah’s Witnesses to liberty.

i'm so overjoyed you asked former Jehovah's Witnesses to respond to this question. otherwise, how ought to you ever discover out why they left? There are some exciting solutions out of your religious brothers and sisters - yet no longer considered one of them has arise with the obtrusive. on an analogous time as i grew to become right into a Jehovah's Witness, I additionally concept I had the actual faith and there grew to become into no way i grew to become into ever going to bypass away it. that must be quite stupid, would not it, to bypass away what you believed to be actual that gave you peace of recommendations. Neither did I bypass away because of the fact i grew to become into immoral or somebody stumbled me or I in basic terms did no longer choose to stay as much as the Bible's intense standards. I wasn't mixing with worldly human beings, i did no longer take in smoking or ingesting. in actuality, i grew to become into pioneering and that i grew to become into married to a pioneer. So why did I bypass away? you're able to be able to desire to comprehend that my mom and father grew to enhance into Witnesses in the 1930's, and that i knew no longer something different than what Jehovah's Witnesses believed. We have been all anticipating the tip of 6,000 years of guy's existence to end in the autumn of 1975 (i'm able to furnish the Watchtower quotations in case you doubt me) and that meant Armageddon might come quickly after. My mom and father believed they have been the technology that ought to work out the fulfilment of the tip-time prophecies in Matthew 24 and that they may be alive whilst the Millennial reign of Christ began. None human beings made any of this up. all of us believed what the Society informed us. wager what? This prophecy grew to become into fake - we are nonetheless waiting, 33 years later. it is the reason I left - fake prophecies approximately dates and predictions whilst 6,000 years of human existence will end. Any peace of recommendations I had grew to become into shattered when I realised the quantity to which I have been lie to. i'm now a born-lower back Christian with a heavenly desire and that i compliment God that, in the process the Holy Spirit, he introduced me to a place of repentance and forgiveness. faith would not shop. in straight forward terms Jesus Christ can try this.

Recover? Guffaw. I will never "join" another religion after realizing the mind control I was fooled by for so long.
HOWEVER, that does leave me free... Free to explore all the possibilities and decide for myself without subjecting myself to a structure ruled by men. And it leaves me free from that dread fear of falling short minute by minute that dictates the mindset of the JW. "Probably" you will be preserved. Right.

Some Jehovah's Witnesses become inactive because they feel unable to continue preaching or certain other Christian obligations for a few months or even years. These are not counted in any JW statistics, but they are considered "brothers" and "sisters" by active Witnesses. Their standing is entirely different from those who are disfellowshipped or disassociated.

Jehovah's Witnesses practice the Scriptural practice of disfellowshipping for unrepentance of such serious sins as fornication, drug abuse, stealing, and apostasy. Baptized Witnesses who join the military or publicly engage in worship with another religion are considered to have disassociated themselves from Jehovah's Witnesses.

Contrary to the misinformation of anti-Witnesses, it is quite possible to become inactive in the JW religion without becoming disfellowshipped. As long as one's lifestyle does not bring reproach upon the congregation, and as long as one does not advocate one's disagreements with the religion, the congregation has no interest in "investigating", exposing, and disfellowshipping an inactive former Jehovah's Witness.

For those who are disfellowshipped or disassociated, a primary goal is to shock the person into recognizing the serious of their wrong so that they rejoin the congregation in pure worship. Since the primary bonds that are broken involve friendship and spiritual fellowship, it is well understood that family bonds remain intact. Parents, siblings, and grown children of disfellowshipped and disassociated ones sometimes choose to limit what they may feel is discouraging or "bad association" but that is a personal decision and is not required by their religion.

Former Witnesses who are disfellowshipped or disassociated are typically treated in accord with the Scriptural pattern explained in these Scriptures:

(1 Corinthians 5:11-13) Quit mixing in company with anyone called a brother that is a fornicator or a greedy person or an idolater or a reviler or a drunkard or an extortioner, not even eating with such a man. ...Remove the wicked man from among yourselves.

(Titus 3:10) As for a man that promotes a sect, reject him after a first and a second admonition

(Romans 16:17) Now I exhort you, brothers, to keep your eye on those who cause divisions and occasions for stumbling contrary to the teaching that you have learned, and avoid them.

(2 Thessalonians 3:6) Now we are giving you orders, brothers, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, to withdraw from every brother walking disorderly and not according to the tradition you received from us.

(2 Thessalonians 3:14) But if anyone is not obedient to our word through this letter, keep this one marked, stop associating with him, that he may become ashamed.

(2 John 10) If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, never receive him into your homes or say a greeting to him.

(Matthew 18:17) If he does not listen to them, speak to the congregation. If he does not listen even to the congregation, let him be to you just as a man of the nations

Becoming baptized as a Jehovah's Witnesses is not a trivial step. At a minimum, a student must demonstrate months of regular meeting attendance and public ministry, then must himself express the desire to be baptized. The candidate then spends hours answering hundreds of bible questions wherein he expresses both a clear understanding and personal conviction regarding Jehovah's Witness teachings in at least three separate interviews with three different elders. The candidate must vocally agree to be baptized in front of hundreds or thousands of eyewitnesses, and must be publicly immersed in water. This is not a momentary emotional decision by an unreasoning child. Dedication as a Witness required hard work and determination at the time.

Was Noah just passing time when he was waiting on the flood to happen?
Were the faithful prophets just passing time waiting for Jerusalem to be destroyed by Babylon?
Was Lot just passing time waiting for Sodom & Gomorrah to be destroyed?
Were Jesus and the apostles just passing time while waiting for Jerusalem to be destroyed by the Romans?
The answer is no. They involved themselves in preaching and teaching to all they came in contact with. They also gave warnings that destruction was imminent.
Jehovah's servants do the same and what better examples could we have than the ones I mentioned--the best example being Jesus himself, who will take the lead in destroying the wicked at Armageddon.
There is hope, but only for those who put their trust in God's heavenly government. We have a hope that very few have and what a wonderful hope it is. After Jehovah's final war, that hope will become a reality for all meek ones willing to adhere to his righteous laws and standards.
I am a Witness and would never consider leaving my worldwide brotherhood. When I see the hypocrisy found in Christendom, I am glad I got out of her.
I know you wanted only ex-witnesses to answer, but I felt the need to defend Jehovah's name, just as Jesus would do.

For 33 years as a 3rd generation born Jehovah's Witness I went door to door with a Bible in my hand and Watchtower society literature. On YOUR door step, convinced in my heart of hearts that unless I recruited you as a Jehovah's Witness that you and your family would all die a horrible ghastly death.

This is what the Watchtower sect programmed me to believe.

Moreover, this is what I spent all my time, money promoting and this is what all 3 generations of my Haszard clan promoted.

This is what the Watchtower sect indoctrinated us to believe.

At 5 meetings a week, weekend 'meetings for field service' pep rallies we would be reminded that we were the world's only hope.

This is what the Watchtower sect brainwashed us to believe.

Our message that we carried door to door that I had been drilled and knew by heart from hundreds of meetings:
God's Kingdom by Jesus Christ was established in the year 1914 and this generation (meant to convey the immediacy of the right now in my youthful lifetime) will get to see Armageddon and the paradise.

This is what the Watchtower sect trained me to believe.
It was all a LIE!

For 50 plus years the masthead of the Watchtower, viewed when you opened up to the inside front cover would read as follows:

"This magazine(Watchtower) builds up confidence in the Creators PROMISE of a peaceful and secure "new world" before the generation "that witnessed" the EVENTS OF 1914 passes away"".
By their own admission the Watchtowers has published this dogma in hundreds of millions of pieces of their own literature.

They deleted this false Adventist millerite derived prophecy in 1995 because it had FAILED.

The Watchtower leadership has "purged" hundreds of thousands of followers over the years for failing to uphold the 1914 (Jesus came to power) loyalty oath to this now defunct dogma.

The Bible clearly warns to turn away from false prophets.
