Before my last son was born I was a working mother who was also in college, going through a divorce and a few other things. After my last son was born I went from being that busy woman who always had things to do and was going somewhere in the career field to being an at home mom of three boys. Its hard, but I found after a while it was enjoyable. I got to participate in events with the kids, do things while they were in school and even every now and then get a part time job for a little extra money just because I can.
I dont like being at home all the time, it gets boring and monotenous but i enjoy the time i get to spend with my kids that i would have missed being a career woman and working all the time.
Try to find things that you enjoy doing to fill your time, if your children are small then do things that they can participate in as well or find a Mothers Day Out program so that you can get time to yourself once in a while.
Just because you are an at home mother doesnt mean you are not important anymore, If you feel that strongly about it find a day care and go back to work, even if its part time.
I write, read, work out, spend time with my adult friends, do things with the kids, work on my web pages and other things to keep me busy and feel like I am accomplishing something other than just being mom.
Keep your head up and remember all the good things about being mom. :)

I love being able to stay at home with my kids as well. I will be going back to school in the Spring. I think it helps to stop and think about how fast they grow up. I have heard so many parents say they wish they would have done this...or made time for that with my kids. Some parents would probably give up just about anything to have the opportunity to stay at home with their kids, so it helps to realize that even though it's stressful at times, it is so worth it. Things that have helped me: 1.) I make a weekly to-do-list, this way I can ensure that I am getting things done that are needed without feeling overwhelmed. 2.) I am not sure how old yours are; but I let my kids help with cooking, and give them chores on the weekends. It helps them to be able to get involved and learn responsibility and helps me to manage. 3.) I always try to make time for myself, even if it's after they are in the bed, it's something every parent needs. 4.) I also joined a gym. Most include childcare if you have younger kids. I try to go at least 2 or 3 times a week. It helps you to feel better about yourself, even if it's only for 1/2 an hr. to an hour. Good luck.

I have stayed at home with my daughter for about a year now. When she was born I was working and continued working for awhile. Then I quit so I could be home with her because I dont want to miss a thing. I do feel like I should be out there working tho, I am still not used to this staying at home.
Can you afford the cost of babysitter so you can go back to work? Good luck!

You hate being a mom??? Enoy the life. I was there once and then I went back to work when they were older. Oh how I wish I had stayed with them longer... It all goes soo fast...
when they are grown happy children because you stayed with them you can say that they had a determined, confident and independant mother, and they will become the same as adults.
Find some other adults to hang with we all need a little adult conversation between the tantrums and "mommy she's hitting me"...!

I now make every trip a learning adventure. We go to museums, libraries, artwalks, zoos, parks, and nature walks hrough our neighborhood. Nothing like getting paid in peanut butter kisses and blueberry juice stained hugs. If you want a job outside the home, wait till they are in school cause you can even get a school job so you can be there for them when they get out or need help.
