Basically, we live in WI but want to go back to TN..he wants to know if he can switch to a different Reserve station there.

Yes.
If you are planning to make a permanent move, he will have to notify his current unit and work with a recruiter to find openings in the area you are moving to. As long as there is a unit that has an opening for his MOS, he should have no problems with the transfer.
If this is a temporary move, he will have to make arrangements to drill with a local unit while he is there. He can go through his own units command to coordinate this.

Either way, he will have to have orders assigning him to the new unit before you actually make the move.

Yes, you can change units. He will need to talk to his CO. Sometimes the unit will assist with locating another unit and make the transfer. In my husbands case, we had to find the new unit phone numbers and call to see if they had a slot for him. Then the unit made the transfer. Good luck.

i've done it before, i moved from louisiana to TN, all i had to do was let my chain of command know about it and did some paper work. not hard if you come up with a good sad story lol

They can do that if they want to. Ask and see. He may have to find a unit that is looking for somebody with his MOS first, then contact them as well as his own command.

go to personel and get the transfer form, fill it out and hope for the best
