There is a stray in my apartment complex that i have been feeding. I suspect it has worms, and i have tried to feed it the tablet from the pet store, but it just eats around them. It wont let me get close enough to pick it up to take it to the vet, but i want to help. Are there any "home remidies" that i can try?? Maybe putting something in it's food??(that it will actually eat)

Get a can of cat food. You can get a small can pretty cheap. Open the DE-worming capsule and sprinkle it in the cat food. It will eat it. Just remember worming goes by weight so do not give it to much. We had 2 stray kitty's that came in the yard. Since our 2 little dogs go out there even though they are wormed and have shots. The vet said it was better safe than sorry. So he recommended doing this.
Hope this helps & I think it is great you take care of stray's.

I don't think those remedies work and I'm not too crazy with the ones at the pet store. Kudos to you for trying to help. May I suggest getting a humane trap( some rescue and humane society groups will let yo borrow them) It is easy to do, just put the cats food in it and it should go in. That way you can get it to the vets. There are a few rescue groups who will give discounts on shots, worming meds, and neuters. Go to www.petfinder.com and click on local shelters and rescues You should be able to get phone numbers there. Sure hope that helped and get luck.

There is a product I use called Pill Pockets, it's a cat treat that is hollow inside, push the pill into the opening, squeeze the end shut and put it ontop of the food. It tastes and smells so good, and is soft and chewy that the cat gobbles it and the hidden pill right away! Make sure you have a decent pill that works on tapeworm, and a different one that works on roundworm. There isn't a pill that does it all. Great job, big heart, good luck!

I would recommend trying to grind the worming tablet up into a powder and then try mixing it in a tablespoon of wet cat food, I would recommend that you choose a flavor such as tuna or mackrel. Good Luck

you can buy worm paste that you mix into food for cats. My cats fall for that every time. They don't eat the pills either. Or you could try crushing the pill up and mixing it in. It's a bit harder though.

When I give my cats meds I have to crush the pills up to a fine powder and mix it in with some wet food. That way the cat won't taste it.

I'd just granulate the medicine and mix it in with the tin of catfood or whatever it is you're attempting to feed it. If the worm monger is hungry enough he'll take the bait ;)

for around $6 you can get a liquid from the vet that is virtually undectable...you give it once and then 3 weeks or so later you give the rest of it ...by the way i believe it is a pink liquid...thanks for feeding the stray ...i feed strays too

I hide pills in canned food, you may have to break it up so the cat eats it mixed with the food.

nope, sadly, you hafta trick it and get it to the vet. only way to treat and be sure treatment was effective. (my cat needed 4 treatments before all ova and parasites were out of his system) strays also often have more than one kind of worm- not all medicines kill all types
