I call Muslims Muslims - however the term "Mohammadans" is not historically a derogatory term - it is just a misnaming (it simply means those who follow the teaching of the the prophet Mohammad). You seem to like to be wrong alot. That is a shame for you.
Good Luck!!!

I call them Muslims. Who do you know that calls them "Mohammadans"??
[edit] Thanks, Fez and norcalislam for your followups. I have never used that term myself and am privilieged to live in a very tolerant and inclusive community in the US. To answer your question, though: I find people who deliberately use insulting terms about Muslims as repugnant as those who use insulting terms about my own religion. Such people--of any religion--are bigots and their behavior should not be tolerated. Norcalislam, I have not been stoned in Israel however I know of Jewish women who have been by ultra-Orthodox Jews, and again I put all of them into the same category. Sadly, I don't think that any religion, race or ethnic group has a monopoly on extremism, shallowness, ignorance, fear or bigotry. Perhaps your post will enlighten those people who, through true ignorance, are hurting you. I will make sure in my daily contacts that I sensitize any others I come across who use this term.

I only know one Jew who refers to them as such, who happens to be a very outspoken poster on this forum. Perhaps you concluded from this one poster that Jews in general refer to Muslims like this. There is no specific Jewish reason to call them such; could you maybe give an example that shows that Jews in general do adopt this practice?

Why is it offensive, it just means those who follow the teachings of Mohammed doesn't it?
I call them Muslims, the term "Mohammedeans" is very archaic.
