So.... I have not flown on a plane before and these are just some of the many questions that I have...

1.) Do airports have a specific area for each airway? For example if I fly with American Airlines do I have to check in my luggage at an area specified for people flying with American Airlines?

2.) Speaking of checking in luggage where do I go to do that? Do they have signs of some sort?

yes, you have to check your luggage at the line/kiosk specifically for american airlines. and don't worry about having difficulties finding the kiosk. theres signs all over the place, it's really easy. arrive at the airport 3 or so hours before your flight. you'll probably have a lot of down time, but theres always the possibility that the security line will be long or some other random event will take place. when you get off the plane, follow the signs for baggage claim, and go to the conveyor belt for your flight. sometimes it's hard to figure out which conveyor belt is for your flight, so i tend to just memorize the faces of a few people around me on the plane. if you see them, you're at the right conveyor belt. flying is easy, don't worry about it. i've been flying since i was probably 2 years old. a few more flights and you'll have it down to a system.

It's basically cut-in-stone, you check in and your baggage at your airline. Now some airlines have a code-share agreement or partnership. What that does is sometimes you'll have to go to another airline for a flight. You may have to change terminals for this and possibly go outside of security and be re-checked (re-searched, security). Hopefully that doesn't happen and sometimes you'll have to check-in at their counter. If you check-in at the wrong counter, the attendants will let you know. You shouldn't be worried at all. I have provided a website that will help you with your packing. It's the prohibited and permitted items list provided by the security agency.

You MUST check in at a specific airline..AA or whomever. You must decide ahead of time what you are willing to carry on and what you are willing to check. Liquids including lotion, sunscreen, shampoo, conditioner etc. are allowed in 3 oz. bottles. Lip balm is considered a hazard so must be placed with other carry-ons in a one-quart bag. No water bottles are allowed. You will go to your airline's gate, check your bag, and proceed to security where you will need to remove your shoes, jewelry, camera, etc. There you must also put your personal items (mentioned above). Make sure to take all prescription medication in labeled bottles. Stay calm, have fun and remember that all the security is for your safety.

If you're flying AA, check your bags there. Sometimes you can check your bags outside of the airline sometimes you can't. Just ask someone who works there. The employees are NORMALLY very knowledgeable and courteous.
