Definately running, especially since it gets your heart rate higher and is more of a cardiovascular workout. I've tested it on the treadmill. If I am jogging/running at a decent not extreme pace I burn about 100 calories per mile, and walking at a faster pace it would say I burned 60 calories per mile.

Running for two miles uses more power than walking. Power is the work per unit time. More work per unit time means more energy use. Calories is a unit of energy.

Running burns more calories.

Running and walking use about the same amount of calories per mile; the difference is, running is faster - so you can run four miles instead!

I stroll 5 to 6 days a week for 30 minutes. I count kind minutes somewhat of miles. I estimate that it takes me quarter-hour to stroll a mile. So each quarter-hour is a mile. you will have to stroll such as you're in a rush. Get your self a walkman with cool songs. Its a good number of exciting. I lost 20 lbs. good success!

Technically it's the same. Jogging and walking the same distance requires the same amount of energy.

There are side benefits to each though. Running will get your heart rate up, which has aerobic benefits and will help increase your metabolic rate (ability to absorb food, etc)

But walking is easier on your body--running can be damaging to your joints (knees, ankles) over a period of time.
