i cant work out the cgt payable on the ir website so wonderd if there was a site with a free calculater on it

As others have said, its a complicated subject. Easiest thing to do is ring the appropriate HMRC helpline, give them the outline details and they will give you a rough calculation.

No there isn't. CGT is far too complicated to have a "ready reckoner".
See an accountant.

Try the spreadsheet below. But be warned that it will not cover every possibility so it is possible to get the wrong answer.
It will work in most straightforward cases, though.

Pop into your local tax office, their address will be in the phone book.
Alternatively, call a qualified accountant but that'll cost you.
