OK, here's a sure fire way to find out.
Go to Nevada, rent a Cessna, and fly over Area 51.
If you get shot down before you can land on one of their runways, you'll know the answer.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

The answer, unfortunately, is still classified.

"Area 51" (I forget what its actual name is today) is a U.S. Air Force aircraft testing site for secret prototypes. Aircraft such as the U-2, A-12, SR-71, and F-117 have undergone testing at this location. A large part of this testing appears to be on the radar visibility of aircraft. It's secret, because the United States didn't and doesn't want other countries getting information on these aircraft prematurely and thus beginning work on developing countermeasures before the aircraft have even entered service. No, there are no aliens at Area 51.

There haven't been any aliens at Area 51 for a long time. I'm not sure where they are now, but for a while they were in a place called Studio 54. I suppose they must be well into the 60's by now.

Everything was moved to a more remote base in Utah. The new base is even harder to approach than Area 51 was. There's no private property that can be used to observe the new base.

Groom Lake as of last report was still going strong. Overhead imagery suggests that up to 1000 folks may be stationed there.
