I mean, they act like I didn't know that. "Oh really? I thought I was a ****** giant. My bad."

You wouldn't go up to a midget/little person and say that. Why? Because its rude, disrespectful, and discriminatory. But apparently, its ok to rag on people who are just "vertically challenged".

Everyday I have to deal with someone talking about my height. I know what all of you will say. "Don't worry about other people, just be yourself."

Well I do, everyday. But what other people think of you IS important as well as first impressions. I honestly believe I would have a girlfriend by now if it wasn't for my height.

Yeah...I know the feeling. I've been teased at least my share. Of course, I've gotten to the point where I'll just go ahead and make fun of myself first. It CAN be amusing, but sometimes, I agree, it's just like, "I'm short...ya think?!?!?" Plus it doesn't help that I can pass for an elementary or middle schooler when I'm IN COLLEGE. ERGHH!! Just remember that, if we all migrated to Japan, WE'D be the giants.

Sorry, that probably wasn't much help. =D

Just have a good personality and walk proudly. Ignore the idiots that bring up your height. Look at Danny Devito; happily married to Rhea Perlman for many years. Look at Michael J. Fox. Happily married for many years But now with Parkinson's Disease, I don't think his height is at the top of his list of priorities. But it never really was. Everyone loved him in "Family ties." Please try to think of the millions of oether people who are way worse off than you. Keep a good personality, and a good sense of humor, and you will have a girlfriend soon. I promise! :)

Conversational inadequacy. A lot of people don't really know how to chat, so they wind up blurting the first thing that comes into their minds.

But rudeness from them doesn't entitle you to be rude back. Just say "Oh, really?" or something like that and move on.

Sorry you have to put up with that!

Other people always want to make themselves feel superior. Even if it's at the expense of someone else. Just don't sweat it. A lot of shorter people have accomplished great things. And a lot of chicks DO go for shorter guys but not if you're stressing about it.

I'm short too, and I just so happen to have all my freind shorter then me or around the same height and my familie is tall so when they tell me I'm short there just playing. i don't have a boyfreind either and it's not cus i'm short i'm just not pretty enough to be as big of a ***** as i am. Plus it sounds like you have little boy sydrome. So just get over yourself and if you really want a girl find one that's shorter then you.

I'm so vertically challenged, that when shrinkage sets in during old age - I fear being mistaken for a "little person".

Attitude. THINK TALL.

People have commented on my height all my life - it just doesn't get to me, except when they stand and watch me climb the shelves in the market to reach things and don't offer to help... and they laugh! pffffft!

most people in society don't understand or don't get that its rude to do stuff like that. its kind of like when people come up to me and say "oh wow, your stomach is so big" (im almost 29 weeks pregnant and I am normally a really small person).... its like, "yes as if I didn't notice that I had a giant (and painfully uncomfortable) stomach that sticks out so far that I can't see my feet." its really annoying.

Some people like to make themselves feel better by putting someone else down. They like to compare you to them and make them look better. But even though you're short, they all know who's really the better one, and thats you. You know what's right and you know its rude. Many girls don't need to like you for your height. Don't worry, Mrs. Right will come.

It sounds like they're picking on you because of the way you react. There's nothing you can do about this except wear elevator shoes, and that would look silly, so you might as well stop caring.

My Dad had bad eyesight and had to wear thick glasses. It never seemed to fail that someone would say "Don, you sure have thick glasses."
He didn't appreciate that at all. So I understand where you are coming from. I think people are insensitive and I hope you can find ways to cope.
