Name him based on his looks and personality - nothing comes to my mind until I see a dog and how it acts. But one of my favorite names for a dog was "hey you". It was a stray that kept hanging around this guy's house, he didn't know what to call it so he called it "hey you". Eventually, after some time, he realized it was a stray and now all it responded to was "hey you" - so that's what he named the dog and literally that was the name on it's collar.

Xillo is one of my male dog's name. I would name a Black Lab, Coal.

I have both a male and a female.
His name is Carter and her name is Cassie.
I really think naming a dog is a personal issue.
Most dogs I've had were named based on their personality or after someone or something that they reminded me of.

I have a male dog called "Wyatt", and used to have a male black lab called, "Oscar".
Preferably, I like the name "Moose" which I called my new female dog since I won't be getting anymore dogs for awhile. good luck

My female black labs name is Rylie. I wanted my male chocolate one to be Ryder, but I caved in to my fiance and let him name him King. I would look on: www.petnamesworld.com until you find a name that suites your dog!

We have two chocolate labs and then a mixed male. Boo, Tigger, and Slug. I don't know it is really hard to name a dog without knowing his personality.

My dog's name is Kennedy.
It really depends what the dog means to you. My dog is from illinois and will spend most of it's life in Canada, so I gave it an 'american' name. Maybe you got your dog in Wisconsin and want to name it "moo" or "cheezie"(just a silly example-but could be anything that has meaning).
You can stick with traditional black dog names "midnight' 'blackie' etc too.
