I'm currently pregnant with my first child by my hubby, and am in my second trimester. However, the problem lies here - although I'm 22, I look no older than sixteen (some people say younger!). I'm very thin and short, which is a difficulty when looking for maternity clothes for one, and my "young" appearance gets me judged unnecessarily more often than not. I've had to explain on more than one occasion while shopping or going out I simply look young for my age. It makes me uncomfortable. Are there any suggestions for getting over this uneasiness and feeling like I'm being judged unfairly?

My mom had the same problem when she was pregnant with me, and this was back in 1979 when people were even MORE judgmental about such things! She was 23, nearly 24, when she delivered me, but because she always looked so very young and was so short and skinny, people always assumed she was a teenager. As long as YOU know you're a happily married 22 year old, that's all that matters. As for the maternity clothes, my mom says she always just bought regular clothes in the Petites section, but she bought them about 4 sizes bigger than she normally wore. Instead of a 2 or whatever she used to wear, she just got a 10 or 12, and they fit over her little belly (ME) just fine! You should be happy you look so young- my mom just turned 51 this year and she looks like she's about 38. People constantly think we're sisters, for real! So one day when you're in your 50s you'll be happy you're so young-looking!

Don't worry so much about it. People are going to judge you no matter what. If it's not your age, some will judge the way you look, act etc. there is nothing you can do about it. You should be thinking about your baby to be, not negative thoughts. If someone tells you something like "your so young" just thank them for their concern and walk away. Be thankful you look younger, you'll be glad about it when you turn 40! Good luck with your baby!

Only you know your situation, don't worry about what others think!! I got married at age 27 and people in stores thought I was shopping for my PROM dress!! I am 5'8" tall and 115 pounds, now age 35 with 4 children ages 5, 4, 2, and 2 months and people still think I am like 20 years old and comment on it! It is better than being fat and people thinking you are much older-just enjoy it!! My sister is 53 and people think she is 35!

i have a huge birthmark on the back of my leg( i know totally different) but i used to get stared at to the point where i would wear long shorts so no one could see it. i am 24 now and my favorit quote is "if you dont like it dont look at it" dont think about what other people think about you. you know how old you are. good luck and congratulations

lol. someday you will appreciate looking younger (i had the same problem). my sister did too. at 23, she was already married with one child and pregnant with another. she used to get awful remarks. i wouldn't worry about it. it's nobody's business even if you were 16....people can be so rude.
