My buddy Bill bought a dog a few weeks ago that was abused, and it ran away. We found out it was shot and killed. I helped him find that dog because I thought it would do him some good because he's been going through alot of family problems and dogs are said to help poeple cope with things. I thought I was helping him but it just made things worse , and now he thinks getting a dog would be a bad idea. Do you think he should try a dog agian? You think it would help him feel less depressed? I really think he should try agian but get a healthy dog with a better past, what do you think?

Give him time to pass away his depression until deciding to get another dog.Getiing a dog is your opinion though. If you want to help your friend,I suggest that you don't get another dog because it's his decision.not yours. But dogs are very good pets to have."It's a man's best friend."
Good Luck:)

Why was it shot and killed? That would have nothing to do with it's past. If he was on someone's property, or Bill has a nasty neighbor, I wouldn't get another one-you'd just be looking at more heartache for this poor man, should the new dog be shot.

volunteering at a local shelter will have the same effect as having a dog without the responsibility. If he's overwhelmed, it may not be the best time to take on an animal. I'd say look into foster programs or volunteer work (with animals).

We don't get a dog to solve our problems. If we do, we only end up creating problems to the dog and by extension worse problems to ourselves. He should not get another dog, until he is ready, strong, and willing to be responsible and work with the dog.

Personally I think he should wait, if he has a lot of personal issues going on right now he wont have the time to care for a pet of any kind.

It's nice of you to be concerned for your friend, but getting a pet is something he should decide on.
