The low level of ammonia in cat urine is NOT harmful. You CANNOT catch trichomonas from cat feces--that is a sexually transmitted unicellular human vaginal parasite. (You know, the stereotype "fish" odor!) Giardia is also NOT found in cat feces--it is a human unicellular GI parasite you catch from sewer contaminated water.

Toxoplasma is a bacteria found in cat feces. Yes it can cause harm to the fetus IF the woman handles the stool, doesn't wash her hands, then eats afterward! If one uses a litter scoop and washes their hands like they should, then there is nothing to worry about.

It's true that pregnant women are discouraged from changing litter boxes, due to possible parasites in the cat waste, which can cause toxoplasmosis in the mother. The parasite is very common, so it's not a 'rare' occurrence to have the parasite with cats. It is hazardous to the fetus and physician's recommend they avoid doing this chore. If they must change the box, special precautions must be taken during the entire pregnancy.
As to the smell, enough cat ammonia will knock just about anybody woozy. Boxes need to be kept clean for the humans and the cats.

Ha! No, it's not true you can die from the smell.... although it might feel like it, lol. If you don't change the litter box often enough (I have two litter boxes for my two cats and I scoop every single day). The urine turns into amonia, which is a pretty bad chemical. But it won't kill you.

Pregnant women should not scoop the litterbox. There are chemicals in it that would harm a fetus. Think of it this way. Pregnant women should also not dye their hair because it could harm the baby, not necessarily the mom. Get it?

There is supposedly some kind of bacteria that can be found in cat litter that is harmful to pregnant women, so they are advised to not clean the cat boxes. Personally, I wouldn't worry about it because it's not like I clean the box by hand or touch anything! If the smell is that bad, it's time to change the litter.

Humans will not die from the smell of litter (unless it's really stinky, lol) and as for pregnant women and litter boxes. Cats that are outdoors can contract a disease called toxoplasmosis that is found inside of feces. It very very rarely affects indoor cats.

Not true about dying from the smell. Pregnant women should try to stay away from emptying cat litter boxes because of the bacteria in feces & urine from cats.

No one will die from the smell. It is better to keep their litter box clean. Get the clumping litter and is easy to have a clean box. A pregnant woman must be very careful, there is a disease that can be contracted by a pregnant woman. She must not clean the litter box to be safe. Check with your Physician, I can't recall the name of the disease that can be contracted by a pregnant woman by soiled cat litter.

No, humans cannot die from the smell.
But there is a toxin in cat urine which can be harmful if inhaled by pregnat women. That's why its suggested that pregnant women not handle kitty litter.

The father is a red tom, but that is about all you can say. And a litter of 4 can have four fathers. That is sort of unique with a cat, as the female determines fertilization. But a calico is a very common fur coloration. A calico with tiger stripes is actually termed a torbie, which is the term for a calico with tabby stripes.

No humans cannot die from the smell... They can contract disease like Trichomonis and Giardia from it.. but that's only if the cat has it.. Pregnant women are not suppose to clean cat feces up because toxoplasmosis can lurk in the feces and the fetus and pregnant woman can get a disease from it.
