Under current laws, if a child spends half of the time with one parent and half of the time with the other, then the amount of maintenance due is reduced by 50%. But if you both have the child equal time, which one of you has to pay maintenance? Am i the only one who thinks this is stupid?

the guy unfortunately has to pay the maintenance it's wrong in my opinion if you both have the child equally but that's how it stands i think the parents should buy the child presents clothes shoes etc for the child while they are with them so no one should pay then but it dosn't work like that

One of you will still be classed as the 'absent parent' by the CSA and thats the one who pays. It is easier, if youre not on benefits to arrange who pays what between you rather than involve the csa. They are bloody useless at the best of times.

Is this a trick question? 50% and 50% of the time is the same as half the time and half the time.
A very confusing question.
