I've recently begun taking a pill prescribed by my Dr. to increase my metabolism and I've noticed that I am hot more often and also tend to sweat more.

Yep, that's correct. Those are the expected symptoms from a rise in metabolism. Basically your engine is running at a higher RPM, it's doing more work.

what pill is that?
i know that clenbuterol rises body temperature so you lose more calories.
in general if your metabolism naturally rises you dont sweat more because usually you rise metabolic rate by gaining more muscle - the more you exercise the harder you have to work to sweat (rise heart rate)
