This depends entirely on the company and the office environment. I have seen some companies which require all people to come in suit/tie, and others in which you could come in with shorts and sandals. The bookkeeping/accounting departments fall in to this same area.

As a general rule though, accounting departments tend to dress up more than the norm. This helps to give an air of accountability and responsibility. Good traits for those handling the money. :)
