You obviously have the 3.0L 24-valve DOHC engine, since those are the only Tauruses equipped with the low coolant level sensor in the coolant recovery bottle. The poster telling you it's most likely a bad sensor is most likely right. This is very common to happen. Unfortunately, it is not serviced separately from the recovery bottle itself. The good news is that it is not very expensive, nor is it hard to replace. It's only a couple of hoses and a 10mm nut and bolt, and that's it. Hope this helps.

With the engine and coolant cool. Take the sensor out and clean the contacts. Also check the wiring connectors to make sure they are making contact. If this fails, you'll need ot get a new sensor. good luck

If the coolant is at the proper level then don't worry about the light for now. It is just a warning, as long as the level is okay, then it's just an annoyance on the dash until you can get it fixed.

It is a bad coolant sensor on the radiator or the overflow tank.Check for connections first it should be the only wires running to either.

You probably just have a bad coolant level sensor.

you may try removing it and cleaning the gunk off of it...also make sure it has a good connection and no broken wires...
