Here in LA we got down to 29 degrees this past winter. But that is not common.
We usually get into the mid 50's in the winter. In the summer the upper 90's are common for LA. But the low 100's are common too.
For Calif. in general, we do have snow in the mountains, and 120 degree plus temps in Death Valley.

Is -45 cold enough for you? It was recorded in 1937 in Boca at an elevation of 5532 feet above sea level.
The hottest in California was 134 in 1913 in Death Valley, elevation is below sea level.
It gets very cold in the Sierra Madre Mountains in Northern California. During the winter the San Gabriel mountains that surround LA will be topped with snow. Big Bear is the closest place you can go to snow ski in LA and it's about an hour away.

You need to be more specific. The mountains of course get snow and it can get down to the single digits. Where I live it can get down to the high 20's. in the winter., but that is not the normal or average. I'm sure it has gotten down to the minus degrees in the mountains during the winter, but I don't know the lowest record.

I've lived in LA for over 60 years and cold is rare. I live 4 miles from the ocean and the coldest its been here is about 32 decrees. The dogs water dish froze. But that has been about 3 times in 60 years. So the 40's is usually the coldest.

I live in the L.A/O.C area, right around Long Beach, and here is usually pretty hot and humid! The coldest it can get during the summer time probably at night is still around 70degrees! And other than that.. it'll probably just be a high 50s or low 60s!

It can get to sub zero in the mountains and over 120 in Death Valley. Depends on where you are and time of year. We cover it all. You can swim in the ocean and same day ski in the mountains.
